Of the countries we track, India currently has the highest average reading at 165 (Unhealthy). Rankings move hour to hour as stations report.
Ethiopia currently has the lowest average reading at 12 (Good), averaged across every station we track there.
Levan is currently reading highest among the cities we track, at 641 (Hazardous).
The air quality index compresses several pollutants into one 0–500 figure across six bands, from Good through to Hazardous. The lower the number the cleaner the air, and each band carries its own health guidance.
